How to play Termo
Termo is a word-guessing game. Every challenge has a secret word and you have 6 tries to find it. Each guess must be a valid word with the same number of letters as the secret one, and you can choose words of 4, 5, 6 or 7 letters.
The colors
- Green: the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
- Yellow: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot.
- Gray: the letter is not in the word. On the keyboard, those letters are dimmed so you don't reuse them.
Tips to solve it faster
- Start with plenty of vowels and common letters. Words like “AUDIO” or “RAISE” test several frequent letters at once.
- Use your second guess to discover new letters, even if that means not reusing every green letter. Information is worth more than a risky bet early on.
- Think about endings: many words end in -ER, -ED, -LY, -ING or -S. If the last tile turned green with an S or a Y, test plurals and adverbs.
- Don't reuse gray letters. They have already been ruled out.
- Move yellow letters around. A yellow letter in the first tile is never there; try it in another position on your next guess.
- Watch out for repeated letters. Words like “LLAMA” or “SPEED” can fool you; if clues run short, consider that a letter appears twice.
Game modes
- Daily challenge: everyone plays the same word and tracks their own win streak.
- Endless mode: play as many words as you like, with no limit.
- Past days: recover challenges you missed.
- Profile: shows your statistics.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to type accents?
No. Accents are ignored: type words plainly and the game matches them. Letters like ñ or ç are treated as n or c. When the game ends, the answer is shown spelled correctly.
When does the word of the day change?
At midnight in your device's time. Everyone gets the same word on the same day, so you can compare results with friends.
What is the difference between daily and endless mode?
Daily has a single challenge per day for each word length and counts your win streak. Endless picks a new word whenever you want, great for practice, and keeps separate statistics.
I missed a day. Can I play it later?
Yes. In “Past days” you pick any earlier date and play that day's challenge. Those games are marked on the calendar but don't change your daily streak.
Where are my statistics saved?
In your own browser, with no sign-up. If you switch devices or clear browser data, use the backup in “Profile” to carry everything with you.
A letter appears twice. How is it colored?
Each letter of the secret word can only be “used” once. If you type two A's and the word has only one A, just one of them gets a color; the other stays gray.
